Cameron's Strongarm

Post by Wekslap » Tue Nov 11, 2014 10:49 pm

Anyone know nearest kits to Cameron's strongarm? Or double maxim for that matter.

Thanks

John

Sorry, Weks, the nearest I've had to trying anything of Cameron's was spying a decidedly dodgy looking Cameron's pub in Gateshead town centre...and walking swiftly past it!

Are those beers similar to any other commercial beers? Might help us to identify what you're looking for.

Cheers

Cameron's Strongarm is one of the original British ruby red beers with almost a guinessy head. It was originally brewed for the heavy steel industry workers and their thirsts. Its almost a Teesside version of newcy brown on draught. Malty and, at least in the northeast unique.

Double maxim, now also available in draught, is Sunderland's version of newcy brown. Originally brewed by Vaux, it is fuller bodied and maltier than Newcy, with almost bananary, raisiny hints. Darker and maltier than newcy.

I would love to attempt the black arts you mention but I have no idea where to start for a begginer. Dont you need loads of specialist equipment?

Not really, there's nothing specialist or too complicated about ag brewing.

Have a browse through this, a blatant plug I know!

Tee tee teesiders! Don't get Cameron's down here in Cornwall! Thanks for the reminder, its a much missed beer for me (ex Thornaby and a boro fan)! Yeah I know its a monkey hanger beer....still Teesside though! I will stick this on the top of my list.

Graham wheeler says challenger and Golding's. Some say Cameron's use black malt or possibly caramel for the redness.
