Thanks, I'll bring the 5Kg Barley. I've been told there's a new shop set up nearby selling barley for bird feed etc. Hoping to call to find what else he might have or can get.Normski wrote:Eric

Yeah another great evening.
I cant see how the pub make any money on the night, they give away so much beer, as tasters and prices for the quiz.
And we even had some free beer tokens from last month that we used. And coming home with bottles of free beer.
The Scottish Borders Brewer was a nice guy and a good speaker. and this month the brewer was quite sober.

Yes Jim, Monday 15th, usual time. Matt said we would have to book, but I don't know if that was said tongue in cheek. I'll ask tonight.
I think the pub makes its money Thursday to Sunday and maybe try to cover costs as best they can for the rest of the week while keeping the regulars happy.

There's a table for five reserved for the 15th in my name, the most Matt would allow. He said there were more than a 100 present on this occasion last year. I can't remember, which can sometimes fit with such events.

Just a reminder for Monday night. I'll expect to get there about 7:45. There ought to be a table for 5 reserved in my name for any who arrive earlier.

Yes, I hope so too. Missed one on Wednesday, Consett Stout, must have been too popular for it was gone by the time I got to order one. Last week I had one from Big Lamp and thought I could smell burning from the kitchen. The staff checked to find all was cleaned down and turned off and I said could it be the beer. "What? Embers!". It would seem to have been made using some smoked grain and was a little different. It didn't last long either.woblylegs wrote:looking forward to it
