STC-1000 internal relays

Post by Blackaddler » Mon Jan 12, 2015 2:14 pm

I just received another STC-1000 [bought as a spare] from ebayer bestsave.

It's not a Willhi or Elitech, as it's unbranded. It was only a tenner, anyway.

Here's a couple of pics...

I'm a little concerned that those 2 relays [JQC-3FF] don't actually mention anything in the region of 220V, but having looked at the specs, I think they're OK.

Has anyone else got any pics of their relays? I can't find any of my original unit. I probably forgot to take any!

Dunno about the relays but it's a v1 model so can be flashed to STC1000+ if need be :)

V1.1, actually, but I won't be doing any flashing!

as the voltage increases, the current decreases proportionately so as long as the relays have sufficient power dissipation they should be fine.

Identifies it as a 12v switching coil, single switched pole with Silver cadmium internal contacts and class B insulation

Probably marked up for a market with 120v mains (eg US) - note how the switching current is 15A and not the normal 10A as per the UK market

Thanks for the clarification. I was struggling to interpret some of the data.

A quick test, and it powers up OK, but was about 0.9C out. So recalibrated [F4 function], and now gives the same readings as my existing Willhi unit. :)

A full relay test will have to wait, but they appear to switch on and off when they should.

I just realised that this new unit comes with the plastic tipped sensor. Much better than the metal tipped item that came with the Willhi unit, if using the sensor in wort.

I wouldn't stick it in the wort personally.

I have an unbranded cheap one and it works just as well as my other 3 Elitech's.
