Drink more? I'm doing the best I can :D

Between the beer drinkers in the house, visitors and stuff given away I reckon we can get through five gallons in a couple of weeks or thereabouts and storage isn't a problem, so for me ten gallon or larger batches are reasonable. I'm quite happy to build up a "store" of a few gallons each of various different beers, too. Up until now wherever possible I've done two five gallon brews on the same day (sometimes I'll do four in two days), so "going large" just makes sense for me.

I agree with your general point though. Brewing a large volume might look good and sound appealing, but unless you have the space to do it and the kit for storing it, smaller batches probably make far more sense.

Ok I’ve sent an enquiry off to catering portal for Two off the Stainless steel Buckets 70L and one off Thermos Bucket 50L yesterday

I'm think this should be good for my Common 5 Gallon batch that I would do and give scope for the occasional 10 Gallon

I am looking at using the Thermos for Mashing

If I need to I could always fit a second skin of Stainless steel and insulate the HLT and Boiler but I will look into that at a later date or swap the vessels about to better suit my needs as i learn more

Would you get a better efficiency from having the grain spread over a wider area (I.E. larger Diameter of vessel) is bigger better or would it work against you?
