Hello
I am looking to upgrade my mash tuns from Igloo water chiller and picnic box to a larger stainless steel insulated one. The equipment from Home Brew Builder looks to be good value. Does anyone have any of this equipment and if so what are your thoughts re quality, value & delivery times?
Alternatively, have you other suppliers that should be considered?
Best wishes
Stephen

Re: Home Brew Builder
I have three vessels from him, as well as quite a lot of accessories: temperature dials for all the pots, sight glasses, taps, lots of camlocks, a huge hop filter and false bottom, and a great big plate chiller. I also had holes precut in the pots for me, so really all I needed to do was screw lots of things together with PTFE tape and make sure everything seals properly.
In general the stuff is high quality, and quite impressive for the money. There's the odd thing that might need some tweaking (not convinced by the seal for my temperature dial, but yet to test it properly), but if you're thinking of buying stuff from here then you will be doing a little bit of the building yourself so should be able to cope with that.
Really the only step up in quality I could see would be going to one of the German manufacturers or perhaps some of the Blichmann kit, but I'm not convinced it's worth the extra.
If you're ordering anything custom, expect a bit of a wait - my kit was 5-6 weeks.
The only down side is that at the moment he appears to be very busy, so you might have a bit of a wait if communicating via email. I had a small item missing from my order, and haven't received it yet a couple of weeks later.
The only alternative I have seen is Angel Home Brew.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will go with HomeBrewBuilder based on what Jocky has said.

Lard/Mark is really sound. Have spent a fair bit of cash with him over the years. He's a brewer himself first and foremost so he's also a good guy to talk to. I've not bought from any others so can't compare.
I intend on buying a conical from him in future if he gets a shift on.
