Does a STC 1000 give an error if the relays aren't connected?
I have been making up a 2nd STC 1000 fridge controller.
I have done it before and the other one is working fine, so I think the wiring is fine.
I switched it on and got an "EE" error which, according the very poor manual, indicates a short circuit.
Checked everything and could see no problems but still got the error when powered up.
I took everything off and just powered up the controller, still get the error.
I am thinking it will have to go back.

check the sensor connections,
if you have a multimeter, disconnect the sensor and check the resistance of the sensor

I've checked the sensor resistance and it's fine.
This is the wiring, basically a shared neutral and then a live for the power and the 2 switched lives for the cooling and heating.

This is how it looks when all connected up

If anyone can see anything obvious that I'm missing I would appreciate it.
Although it's quite hard to see whats going on in the 2nd photo!
To be honest, it's not a drama, I got it off Amazon so it's painless getting a refund and I have ordered another!

You don't have the sensor connected. If anyone can see anything obvious that I'm missing I would appreciate it.

You could do with Stuffing glands rather than just the grommets, you could pull the cables out too easy the way they are now. +1 to AnthonyUK
Re: STC 1000 "EE" error
I tried it with sensor connected made no difference.
Not sure what a stuffing gland is?
The cables will have cable ties on them to help keep them in place once the thing is finished and working.

These are stuffing glands, much safer.
