Can this be used in place of a propane or butane cylinder for heating boilers ?

I have a feeling that the regulator is specific to patio equipment for some reason ? Its also only sold in small cylinders so will probably work out dear.

Sorry no direct experience of patio gas. I believe it's a mixture of propane and butane formulated to give a better pressure at low temperatures ie UK patios on cold days! It needs a different regulator compared to either butane or propane, but with the appropriate regulator I imagine it'd be fine on a regular burner.

Patio gas is propane. The only difference AFAIK to a propane cylinder is it has a different connection. Apparently this is safer for drunk idiots sat on the patio to connect/disconnect.

Well I found I can swap a patio gas cylinder for a propane so if I'm offered an empty least I've got more options

I stand corrected, I really should engage brain before posting, rpt is right - Patio Gas is just propane, it appears you cannot trademark the word propane so Calor came up with "patio gas" and sell a 13kg bottle for £2.50 more than a 13kg bottle of identical propane, fitting it with a special regulator to protect those in need of protection.
Use whichever you like!

It also comes with a fancy level indicator but I'd just swap patio for propane saves the special regulator
