Anyone use an SS Brewtech brew kettle?
If so, do you use the trub dam or have you replaced it with something else?
I really like the look of the kettles, but I'm not convinced by the trub dam + whirlpool combo compared to just fitting a bazooka to filter the larger sediment/hops and leaving the trub on the bottom of the kettle. Unfortunately the weldless kit that the trub dam uses doesn't have a standard BSP thread on the inside, so if I wanted to adapt it I'd need either buy another weldless tap kit, or do another heath robinson tap conversion.
I'm sure I've seen a few people on here with these pots/kettles, and they do seem to be the dogs danglies, so interested in people's experience of them.

Re: Anyone use an SS Brewtech brew kettle?
I have the 15 gallon one. I have kept that as is (did fit a sight glass though) as my hop rocket acts as a decent filter and then just collect any trub in the bottom of my conical just before pitching. It does do an ok job of keeping trub behind as usually still have lots left behind.

Cheers - they do a false bottom for it too, but it's just under a hundred quid on top

Yeah not a very cheap option. I am waiting on the Thermometers coming into stock though I may just end up buying one if thy is not soon.

Well, after ordering the induction plate yesterday, I pulled the trigger and ordered the pot off The Malt Miller, and a few other bits while I was there

Grumpy, how are you using induction? I am currently on the gas hob and currently researching using a 3kw portable induction hob with not wanting to go down the kettle element route again.
Re: Anyone use an SS Brewtech brew kettle?
It works very well, although my hob may be faulty (see my other "shiney" thread)DerbyshireNick wrote:Grumpy, how are you using induction? I am currently on the gas hob and currently researching using a 3kw portable induction hob with not wanting to go down the kettle element route again.

The guy I bought mine off seems very good in the comms department, and has said he'd swap my hob if it does turn out there's an issue - a lot cheaper than new too: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/benmax3/m.htm ... d=p2059210DerbyshireNick wrote:Grumpy, how are you using induction?
