New brewery/bar room build
New brewery/bar room build
In the middle of last year I in swapped from my coolbox set up to an electric set up, but without a dedicated area. After doing just a coupe of brewdays with it I had to pack it all into storage due to a house move (it had to be tidy!) being on the cards. Well, the move dragged on a bit, but we eventually moved in January!
One of my requirements was to have a dedicated shed/cabin/garage to permanently set up the equipment. Luckily enough, the other half was encouraging, and also likes to do a bit of entertaining, so we came up with the idea of having a joint brewery & bar/bar… and even luckier the new house had the room to fit it in, with the missus even suggesting a bigger ‘room’ than I had suggested!
So, three months after moving in it is nearly there and brewing should be starting again within a couple of weeks.
I’ll post some pics of the build of the whole thing in following posts.

Late January: Shrubs cleared and 5m x 5m area marked out

5th Feb: Flat pack cabin delivered in the freezing cold rain, then snow!

A big pile of wood in the garden ready for assembly

Foundations ready (hardcore, interlocking grids & pea shingle)

Brilliant! I keep rejigging the garage to make more space. I'd love one of those in the garden! Keep posting pics as you build please.
Re: New brewery/bar room build
wow- that is a good size. I look forward to seeing the build continue (and the fit out of the brewery area)
Re: New brewery/bar room build
Thanks Chris. The build is almost finished, so plenty of pics available to post but I don't want to overload the forum!
The layout is basically the rear 2m (x 5m width) for the brewery, sink, fermenting fridge, and worktop, with the front 3m for the bar (incorporating the beer engine acquired from barney last year) and seating areas.

Re: New brewery/bar room build
A couple of coats of paint, side window frame added for light to the brewery area, and glazing fitted - now watertight (hopefully)!

To make sure that the internal stud walls were put in the correct place most of the brewery equipment, and seats were positioned.
Against the far wall is the brew table, with the pots covered, and the sink to the right.

A few days later after a bit of internal painting. Fridge freezer and fermenting fridge are to the left, and the control panel and extractor fan on the far wall.
Lighting fixed to the ceiling, but no electrics yet wired.

Bar build started

Re: New brewery/bar room build
I am loving this thread, looks like some build you have going on there.
Re: New brewery/bar room build
Thanks Rhodesy - it has been three months of hard work!
Brew vessels, control panel. and storage shelves. (laminate flloor added - cheap from wickes as a lot of 'damaged' stock)

Brew pots, sink, work area, and extractor fan motor
The electrics have been the one thing I have had someone in to do.
Consumer unit with 30 amp socket (for control panel & heating elements), waterproof sockets and wiring for two waterproof strip lights

By the end of March I finally got around to dry-lining the partition walls as the electrics were completed.
Bar progessed a bit more and beer engine added.

Re: New brewery/bar room build
That looks fantastic. How long until the first brew do you think?
Re: New brewery/bar room build
Very nice, I've just started clearing the space for something similar - going to take me a while!
Where did you get the cabin from? Is it insulated?

Re: New brewery/bar room build
It's from a company called Dunster house. It has roof and floor insulation - the roof insulation I ordered with the cabin, but the floor insulation I sourced from Wickes as it was cheaper. The walls are 45mm thick, but not insulated. Windows and doors are double glazed.Grumpydev wrote:Very nice, I've just started clearing the space for something similar - going to take me a while!

...and you only moved in in January?!
Are you ever going to be in your house or can you now just rent that out?
