A bit more work done to the bar

And if going to effort of building a pub, then of course a dartboard is needed!
This is on a door (unfinished) that can slide out of the way behind the bar wall

Current state of the seating area.

You might just notice a friend hanging on the wall in the above pic... well, all pubs need a name, and as we are Rob And Mary (and both Aries) then 'The RAM' seemed to be a decent shout.

That is a superb effort, I am well envious of that. Must be great seeing all you hard work and effort (& cash) come to fruition like that.

Now I'm thinking my current plan (15ftx9ft roughly) is too small.. damn you!

I wasn't going to bother with an internal wall, but looking at your setup it does seem like a good idea.

It definitely has taken all three of those things! But, it's nearly there now, just a water supply and drainage to take care of... And finish the extraction for the boiler... And and a wood burner... Then lay a few slabs out the front!

It is in a usable state though, and we have had a few drinks and meals in there already on warmer days and evenings. We like it!

I guess it depends what you are putting into it as to how big it needs to be. I went with the dividing wall just to give a bit of separation, and protection, for the times we might have an unruly mob in drinking!

The plan is pretty much exactly as you have - brewing area then the rest for a bar / summer house.

Btw, did you get planning permission before you built it?

No planning permission needed as it's below 2.4m high, and also no Building Regs needed for the water to the sink - this would be different though if I put in a toilet and/or made it 'habitable'.

I think these things are all different depending on the local council, so worth checking.

Rules are different if you are that close to the property boundary - not going to preach to you though, just curious if you did it or not (I'm not going to either).

Are you getting "proper" drainage put in underground, or are you planning on a saniflow or something?

I think it's at least 1 metre from property boundary.

I am going to get it connected to the proper drains... I just have to get a 15m long trench dug first! ... And this is the next big job on the list. I need to do this before finishing off with the paving slabs in front.

Yeah, drainage sounded like a big job so I was toying with the idea of a small pipe and a saniflow (or similar).

Main issue I have at the problem is wondering what to do with all the frogs that are living in the area I'm clearing :(

Wouldn't it still need a trench back to the house drain. Maybe not so big though?

Well, I've just dug a pond close to mine, so the frogs will only be a post build problem!

I *think* I can just get away with a straight run small diameter PVC pipe into the drain, no need to build a trench - I'm still not 100% sure I'm going to bother with drainage or permanently connected water.

When I started removing the large rocks and railway sleepers I must have discovered 50+ frogs - it's hard trying to clear the space without hurting them because they are camouflaged and their threat response is generally to just sit still.

I know a few people have said that an extraction fan and hood don't really work (and possibly just an open window and blower are better), but as I was getting the electrics put in I thought it worth having the switch put in for a dedicated extrtactor and to see how it goes.

This shows the fan and switch, and 150mm hole for the vent

I now have to either make, or obtain, some kind of hood to fix over the boiler to connect the ducting to. I'm wondering if i should make some kind of wooden frame and then clad it in a suitable material... or if i can just get something like a cooker hood and convert it to suit?

Cooker hood works just fine for me on the odd occasion I've brewed indoors.
