Solder is it safe

Post by trickybrew » Mon Jun 15, 2015 8:16 pm

Hi all just a question about copper pipe solder, some diy Brewers use solder on ther mash tun filter to join it together permanently, and I've seen on projects of home brewers pipe work set up that's been the same, is solder safe with the hot water- boil !!! ie not releseing any harmful toxins ?!

+1 lead free solder is benign the distillers are the most materials concious bunch and tin based solder is ok with them ;) so its fine with us BUT wash/rinse well as the flux used is very nasty and you dont want any trace of that in your brew.
ist update for months n months..
