Makes a good HLT. Boil may not be vigorous enough for some to use as a kettle, and it is just a bit in the small size for a Biab vessel.
You should check out the reviews on amazon for the 40l version - all home brewers!

New to AG. Am I right in thinking if I'm using a mash tun I wouldn't need to put my grain into this therefore the 30l ought to be big enough for 23l batches?

30L is pushing it for a 23L brew, unless you liquor back towards the end of the boil as your pre-boil length will be 29-30L. Better to get the 40L model. I can just about squeeze 27L batches out of mine.albion_king wrote:New to AG. On there main web page (nisbits) it says 2.5 mill pound where house clearance sale. When it's gone, it's gone.
Not sure why, maybe there relocating, and moving stuff cost money/labour time, so I guess there cutting out the middle bit and offering joe public a bit of a sale.
But there again they just may have a big bill to pay, so need some fast cash..
Either way I don t need a boiler or much else at the mo.

It's normally used as a marketing ploy. The company will set a limit to the amount they sell at the reduced price. If they hit that number before the offer ends it gives them a reason to cut short the offer.Wonkydonkey wrote:On there main web page (nisbits) it says 2.5 mill pound where house clearance sale. When you add on VAT and shipping it's nearer £100. You could buy a 50l stock pot and elements / gas burner for less than that - which would be a better option for most brewers providing you don't mind a bit of tinkering and drilling!

The advantage of these is the concealed element which for BIAB is much better as it gives you 80% of what you need to do the works, like step mashing.
If you use a standard element, you can't very easily do step mashing.
