Fitting temp Dial to a pot

Post by poolking » Sun Jul 12, 2015 8:45 am

Hi everyone, Wanting to fit a 2.5" or 3" temp Dial to my 40ltr Buffalo boiler. Have had a good luck on ebay and can only see them advertised in US / Hong kong. Anyone know where I can buy one from (UK only). Also any suggestions on size / make etc.......
Watched a few vids and they look easy enough to fit. All advice appreciated, Thanks.

I bought mashmaster one from Aus. About £27 delivered I think. http://mashmaster.mobile034.com/c/14570 ... eters.html. I used a 12.7mm Q-max for the hole

Or Angel Homebrew, but why do you want to fit one? Presumably not for boiling, so for mash and sparge water temps. I find the thermostat accurate enough. I raise mash water temperature way above that required, then empty into the MT and allow to cool to strike temperature. That way the MT is warmed up too.
Best wishes

Dave

I find it great when cooling. Hit 80c and turn the cooler off for the hops to steep

Hi all, thanks for the reply`s. Will be looking at these in more detail, but having took on board what Dave s said, I`m beginning to wonder if I really need one. Been using digital thermometer with probe through lid with good results. Just thought it would make things a bit easier Having Dial fitted (no messing dangling probe in). Sorry forgot to mention I`m a BIAB Brewer, so am also wondering if bag would snag Dial probe. Anyway, thanks again, appreciated.
