Well it was bound to happen at some point. `i'm a messy brewer and things get left out to air dry when they have been cleaned like my auto syphon, which was in bits in the bathroom. Well swmbo tidied up the bathroom and now I don't have a sediment trap for my auto syphon. Last night I had to keg my current brew from my secondary. I had no option but to cross my fingers and hope for the best..........and what happened? I got my keg half full and the auto syphon stopped working!
I noticed when I last used it that it was pulling some air through while syphoning. Last night there was beer behind the seal on the sliding part of the auto syphon and when it stopped working and I tried to get the flow going again it seamed to pull more beer back from the keg than the secondary.
Is it fixable? Has any one had similar problems?

Re: Auto syphon b**ls up
not used one but i guess a smear of vaseline over the inner tube and any orings may help seal.
it may have been due to a lot of co2 in suspension too ive had some sealed siphons stop due to co2 released thru agitation killing the action in the tube before..

Cheers Fil. Thanks for the response.
Come to think of it there was a fair bit of co2 in this brew as I had been dry hopping in a secondary. I might try it with some water while cleaning out my fermenter to see if there are any other issues with the seal.
