A few parts arrived other day. I got a 12v motor speed regulator. And a pc fan which has 4 wires yellow.black.blue and white.

which of these wires do i need to use as the motor reg only has 2 terminal ports

red and black, pos / neg, the other wires are for rpm and for the PC to control the speed.

are you going to build in a raspberry pi to monitor and tweet the speed and estimation of the number of yeast cells, while live-streaming HD video of the yeast starter?

iirc pc colour coding for wires is
black -ve
red +5v
yellow +12v
blue????

depending on your power supply if less than 12v use red n black, if 12v or more yellow n black ;)
ist update for months n months..

I think blue would be a tachometer reporting fan speed back to the PC.
I brew therefore I ... I .... forget

The simple answer is there isn't a standardised colour set for PC fans. However the motherboard connector pinout is standardised. So just use that to see which wire corresponds to which pin. Simple :D
