Gas Burner Recomendation

Post by mshergold » Sun Aug 30, 2015 9:25 am

Hi. I'm thinking of moving to gas for my boiler soon and looking for some advice. The boiler itself will have a capacity of around 33 litres (http://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/index.ph ... ductId=387) as my brewlength is generally 25 litres.

What burner should I use in terms of kW? I'm used to using a Baby Burco as a boiler, which takes around 90 minutes to get to the boil, so am looking for something similar though preferably quicker. Can anyone recommend one?

one of the £30 7.5kw should handle a 33l boiler easy enough

The link above shows an identical burner to what the Malt Miller sells.

It is slightly more expensive but you could save on the postage if you buy it with your boiler.

I have one and I use with a 70 litre boiler and it can manage a rolling boil on 55 litres and easily copes with 30 litres. Much quicker than a 2.4kw electric boiler.

I would recommend getting a regulator with a pressure gauge so you know if you have enough gas to complete a brew! I haven't and have to weigh the cylinder with a luggage scale to check there's enough gas left.

If you've not bought the boiler yet... you'd be mad to miss out on these - serious burners (and a 33 litre pan) !

I would LOVE one of those but just dont have the cash right now :( curse my luck !
