Bench Capper which one to buy?

Post by DC » Tue Mar 10, 2015 1:04 pm

Hi guys, I am thinking of buying a bench capper as my lever bottle capper isn’t the best and I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice on which type of bench capper to buy ? I have had a look online and found the ones below. I am assuming the first 3 are roughly the same design? Any advice greatly received

This one looks more robust but more expensive

I've got the second one. It's quite good. The body is made of plastic though, but it seems sturdy enough, and has capped several hundred bottles so far and hasn't struggled at all.

I have the 3rd one I think, or one similar - all the stuff that takes the pressure is all metal.

I've got the second one too. Easy to adjust (my recycled beers bottles are multiple heights) and has done 400-500 bottles in total no probs.
I have used the pre-drilled holes and screwed it onto a movable base, which adds to the stability.

Second one is good for the job. You will not regret retiring the lever bottle capper.

I've got the top one (made by Ferrari apparently) - it does the job but I wouldn't recommend it as the 'cup' threads onto a plastic thread which isn't very rigid so it regularly needs re-housing due to excess play.

I've got the third one from the Malt Miller and found capping bottles an absolute breeze with it.

I have the second one down. It's done really well so far. Whatever one you get you'll find it saves you a lot of time on bottling day!

Looking for advice on a bench capper having had another frustrating evening with my cheap lever job! Post seems to recommend the 2nd one down in DC's piccy list but it's the only one which no-one has identified what make it is or where it comes from.

phil.dadd, rubbery and particularly pads72 (cos most of my bottles are also recycled and of different heights) - which make/model is this one and where can it be had?

The second one is available from the malt miller (edited my post as I identified the wrong one...oops).

EDIT: IGNORE AS TAPATALK MIXES UP THE ORDER OF THE PICTURES AND IT IS THE THIRD ONE I HAVE

I've the 3rd one from the Malt Miller, all metal and great at capping all bottles (wychwood, etc if reusing brewery bottles). As brewery bottles are different heights this one's base is spring mounted so will auto adjust to the correct height when putting bottles on the base. When you pull down on the handle the base 'locks' so will not move when pressed down on, Will do 29mm caps as well with no change of capping head. I'd recommend.

I have the top one and it's a faff adjusting to multiple different bottles sizes. For this reason, I'd go for the green one.
