Hi, I'm looking at the options open for the heating side of controlling the temp of wort in a 120L FV. I currently use an STC-1000 and tube heater for my smaller 5 gallon system so could just get another of those although the FV is going to be in an insulated wooden enclosure in a very cold outbuilding so it seems a bit dodgy and not that sophisticated.
Brewing belts only seem to fit 25L FV's so wouldn't be large enough.
I've come across heating trays which could be an option although wouldn't they roast the yeast that has dropped out? A heat source in contact with the bottom of the FV doesn't seem like a great idea to me.
Has anyone got any other suggestions for heating devices to use with a large quantity of wort...?
Cheers,
Nick

Trace heating wire? wrap it around the vessel before putting it in its enclosure

I have no idea if it works in practice but in my head an electric blanket seems a good idea

I'd never heard of 'trace heating wire' and using an electric blanket hadn't occured to me so thanks for those suggestions.

This stuff?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Flexible-Heat ... 3f08cf1cab
I use 1.5m of it in my fermentation fridge, cable-tied in a loop around a wire shelf, the shelf helps spread the heat about. Very happy with it.
