Pipe Clamps for RIMS Tube
Pipe Clamps for RIMS Tube
Hello all,
Just got a RIMS tube and wondered if anyone knows a good place to get pipe clips/clamps so I can mount it? Failing that perhaps someone can let me know what to google as the stuff I'm finding doesn't seem to quite up to the job.
Thanks very much
Carl

You have a similar need to me but I am after something that can be clipped in and quickly dismantled for cleaning, most of what I have seen is for permanent installation. I want to be able to clamp mine to my brew table leg.

I think I'd like something that allows that too but will be prepared to take a screw or two out for cleaning....will post back anything I find here for others. Cheers all
Re: Pipe Clamps for RIMS Tube
I use these on my set up, they are screwed into the stand however it is very easy to unclamp to get the tube out for cleaning.

Thanks for that, just spoke to Paul at Angel hombrew and these are an option for me, they might just stick out too much however

I have these for my pumps but they are not what you need for attaching to a pipe, unless you use two rings and they are not quick release.Rhodesy wrote:I use these on my set up, they are screwed into the stand however it is very easy to unclamp to get the tube out for cleaning.

Re: Pipe Clamps for RIMS Tube
Here's how I've mounted mine to the leg of my table. I've used the small pump clamps from Angel homebrew and attached them using hose clamps to the legs, it's works brilliantly and doesn't stand out too far

It's one of the homebrew builders rims tube, so just pops apart without the need to remove the clamps.

Re: Pipe Clamps for RIMS Tube
Thanks for posting that, really good info and great pics (featuring all of the common sights in a home brewery too
)
My slight issue is that I don't have a leg to mount on so to speak - I'm looking at fixing a makeshift shelf and mounting the tube horizontally - I already have a pump clamp from AHB but its the larger variety - however its been useful to gauge what the final solution will look like and I think the smaller clamps will do just fine.
I did find some good information from Brewers Hardware (US site) and they have a clamp that has wingnuts which might benefit Orlando if we can find something similar in the UK

Re: Pipe Clamps for RIMS Tube
I did some reading before I mounted mine and general consensus was that mounting it horizontally wasn't a good idea.

Re: Pipe Clamps for RIMS Tube
Correct, you run the risk of an air pocket and the heating element burning out, depending on orientation you might also get incorrect reads from the temp probe. The problem with this set up is you have to rely on CIP unless you are happy to dismantle each time. I'm looking for a quick release.Coffeeuk wrote:I did some reading before I mounted mine and general consensus was that mounting it horizontally wasn't a good idea.

Thanks for that, glad I posted my plans which will now be torn up!
Re: Pipe Clamps for RIMS Tube
What about Terry clips?
Re: Pipe Clamps for RIMS Tube
I've gone for the pump clamps from AHB but I think these are the best suggestion so far for Orlando
