Running a Solar pump on it's side?

Post by Monkeybrew » Sun Oct 18, 2015 7:47 am

I've crudely mounted my little Solar pump on a piece of MDF to give it some stability.

I would now like to mount the piece of MDF on the face of my wooden work bench (brewing station), meaning that the pump would be running on it's side.

Is this a problem for the pump?

I ran them for years, sometimes swinging about on the end of a hose, as long as there is enough fluid getting into it I can't see a problem, remarkable pumps for the price.

I had a bit of a design change last night, the pump has still ended up on it's side, but is now slightly more refined :)

This pump will have 2 uses. Firstly to recirculate the HLT, to even out the temperature of the liquor when it's heating up, and secondly for fly sparging in my new mash tun, but just need to test that bit later today.

Cheers

That's exactly the arrangement I have with mine.
