I got a cheap cooker extractor hood off ebay. In truth it just keeps up if I remove the charcoal filters and wipe down from time to time during winter brews.

I've been wondering about this too, do you need to have an extractor fan?

I've got a drum with a lid with a hole in for the concertina pipe, I was thinking of pointing this pipe outside the shed door.

I've seen this done but have also read people warning of condensate running back down the pipe and into the boil, as long as you have a low point for it to drain or some powered extraction this can be a reasonable alternative to a cooker hood.

Wont clear it effectively unless you have a hurricane force wind blowing past the outside end of the pipe.....

Extractors arent that dear, but you will need a fairly large one if you're after a condensation free brewday - a standard 6" plate fan can just about keep up with 30L of boiling wort.

For what it can move, this seems good for the price- been in my watch list for a while :

Thats what I thought - especially for the price of a brand name standard domestic plate extractor fan.

Open window and a desk fan, way more effective than my crappy extractor hood.

70, 70, 50 Home Brew Builder. It was custom made but from existing components. Quality is excellent and a really good price. I got my fermentors from there too and they are superb, best I've seen for the price.

I'm currently trying to explain the setup I want to him. And yours is pretty much it. But not RIMS or HERMS just yet. But those taps pumps and pipe work with connectors. But an all 50 kit. Currency have a 50l that I use for BIAB so would use this as kettle just want a HLT and thermo pot.

My set up can just about do 50l but requires the 70l HLT & kettle, the difference in price is relatively small but the flexibility it gives you is more than worth it. Go for the quick disconnects over the camlocks, you won't regret it. The pumps are the slightly bigger "chugger like" ones, again worth the difference, I've used both so know from experience. Another tip is to work out how you will arrange the pots then ask for the return taps in the positions that suit that. I didn't and would now have my kettle return on the other side. #-o I would also go for the Brewpi filter that goes round the outside of the kettle so that when you whirlpool it throws everything into the centre, which currently means I can't really use pellets as it clogs the filter too easily.

I'm probs at tops going to brew 40l but that's some time off yet. Will prob stick to size I've been doing in the one pot to start with them once used to it all start upping the volumes.
