anyone in the Birmingham area fancy lending me a QMAX cutter

Post by cerbera84 » Wed Dec 30, 2015 11:27 am

Hi guys,

Just wondering if there's any kind soul in the Birmingham area with a kettle element size QMAX cutter (around 38mm?) who would fancy allowing me to use said cutter to fit my new element to my HLT? I have been using propane but converting HLT to electric for speedier brew days (well, less time sitting around watching gas)

Will travel for use of cutter!

Ben

thanks for your reply Secla but according to google maps you're at least 80 minutes away.

I've got a 32mm step drill bit, a dremel and a curved file but was hoping to make the process easier and find a local QMAX bit and the thought of spending £20-25 on a QMAX to cut one hole is crazy talk.

My office is in Daventry which is a bit closer than Kettering (although I live near Kettering!)
I have a Qmax you could borrow if you ever pass Dav?

Thanks Rogermort, we're getting slightly closer, you're only 65minutes (50miles) away....

Looks like I'm getting the curved file out, eh

if anyone is looking for a 1.1/2" (38.1mm) qmax cutter at a reasonable price, check out Cromwell tools, paid £13.43 for one today

My only thought is how close are you to the like of brew builder, the malt miller, angel homebrew. Might of been worth dropping and paying for them to cut and fit the parts ?

sbond10, sadly I'm nowhere near any of those guys - anyhow, I prefer to bodge my own brew gear...

Chris, thanks for the offer, however as I've bought the 38.1mm cutter this morning I'll use that one

I just updated the listing in case anyone else wanted a cheap qmax cutter
