Nitrile "O" Rings ??
Anyone used Nitrile Rubber O Rings 1/2" instead of Silicone ones, I Googled and found they are foodsafe. ???

Re: Nitrile "O" Rings ??
Think theres a few different food safe o rings, but Silicone can handle high temps

Nitrile o rings are the standard for corny kegs. I think silicon is better if using at hot temps.
Re: Nitrile
Just had a look and it looks like General Service Nitrile is good for 121'c and there is also a Low Temperature one thats good for 107'c.... True but at higher temps you might leech things out of nitrile rings that you don't want.
I don't know this for sure but there must a reason why everyone uses silicon for hot temps.

Re: Nitrile
Totally agree with Silicone is better, I was just looking for a cheaper alternative for 1/2" Silicone O Rings, (20mm ID) as some people want as much as £2-3 for them which I think is OTT. I have seen a few around £1.50 but then the postage is bumped up.Jonnyconga wrote:True but at higher temps you might leech things out of nitrile rings that you don't want.
