RJT fittings

Post by Fred Caure » Sat Jan 30, 2016 11:39 am

Does anyone have experience with RJT fittings and their potential advantages? I have a 1/2" thread and a pipe at the bottom of my brewtanks and it's a bit of a pain to apply ptfe and retightening it after each brew...

Ive not used RJT fittings, but they look very similar to the cone/seat fittings i have used.. and i wouldnt recomend them for a quick easy option especially if hot too.

generally folk who invest in top end quick connections look at camlocks for the hot side and the sanitary triclamp fittings for the cold side.. Dont be tempted by the cheaper PP option for camlocks tho.. ( if buying camlocks get em all from the same supplier ..)

even camlocks are a pita when hot, a towel to insulate your hands from the heat and absorb any spill, a bucket to disconnect over may also be a wise precaution depending on your set up..

the cheapest and most versatile option i have used however is a converter to JG speedfit.. the speedfit fittings allow 360 degree rotation while sealed ;) and when you have the knack can be very quick to seperate ;) and simply terminating your feed tubes with 15or 22mm tube is also cheap n easy..
the downside is the fittings have an expected life of something like 20 x connect disconnects, tho in practice they last a bit longer as a rule..
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate :(
