Agreed, but Monday nights here have changed to a music night. Any more suitable venues?

Agreed, well overdue.....

No idea for alternative venues though, unless you guys can find your way to Newcastle ;-)

No problem so long as I can catch the last Metro to Sunderland.

Definitely need a meet up soon! Pity about Fitzgeralds, but I'm sure we'll find a suitable alternative.

EDIT: Not a pub crawl round Newcastle though - I'm getting too old for that!

I always fancied shooting up to the north east for a meet up but never get around to it...
Maybe one day.

I live in Newcastle and would be interested in meeting up with some other home brewers. I'm still very much a novice and am always looking to get advice and tips from people. I was actually going to post something on here and another forum I'm on to see if anyone wanted to meet up to talk beer and brewing somewhere.

Can you suggest a good place to meet?

That I'm not sure about, would you need a function room or an area you can book or just turn up and find some seats? The split chimp has a decent area upstairs and does a good range of decent beer.

Bodega (another SJF pub and regularly winning awards; also has Tilleys nearby that have some great beers from around the world), Split Chimp (micro pub just behind the station)? There are others as well but I guess starting close to the metro and buses is probably a good idea.

Split chimp very good venue I'm up for it and close to the station for the Sunderland chaps. Good car park in the Stephenson quarter right next to it if anyone is driving. Reckon the chap in the split chimp might reserve the top for us if we ask.

Is there usually a few people turn up to the brewers nights? Are Fridays better for people?

No idea I've never made it to one, normally in Sunderland and it's a pain from Morpeth. F00b4r and I had a few beers in the split chimp and others a months or so back and talked home brew, it was fun and we brewed 8 beers together since.

Friday nights aren't so good for me prefer Saturday but that said if people are up for a night in Newcastle I'll do Friday :) not going near the quayside or bigg market though. I'm with Jim I'm too old for that
