Maxi 310 cooler - 4 lines/2lines

Post by albino » Fri Mar 04, 2016 12:47 pm

I'm in the market for a 4 product cooler for home use and have been looking at the Maxi 310 as an option. I haven't ever used a cooler before and am a bit confused about identifying which 310 models are 4 product and which are 2 product. Is there any simple way to do this? Thanks in advance.

Yes the number of pipe out the rear will tell you,

If the cooler has a python pump there will be an in & out for that, usually at a slightly different height to the rest.

The rest of the pipes will come in two's (in & out) so count them up & divide by 2. (discard the python)
Hair of the dog, bacon, butty.
Hops, cider pips & hello.

Name the Movie + song :)

Brilliant, thanks. Seems quite a variety of 310 versions then as I've seen everything from 2 pipes to 8 pipes (excluding the 2 for the python).

Yes, its basically the same model, but can be fitted with different numbers of product coils, from one to four, plus the python recirculation.

FWIW, when I got my first one I was surprised by how loud they can be. I'm not suggesting it'll have the neighbours around complaining, but if you were thinking of setting it up in the living room for example, it could get annoying.

Thanks Kev. I've borrowed a 2 line model to test the noise and you're right, it is pretty loud. I think I'm going to have to re-think things a bit as there's no way I'd get away with that where I'd planned it, (the kitchen). Maybe a keezer is the best option.

A keezer/keggerator sounds like a good idea if you can fit one in. Aside from the quietness, its better (IMO) for the beer itself to be kept at cellar temperatures, not just served at them. Also, the pressure/carbonation relationship is much more consistent if you can stabilise the beer temperature.

As a shelf chiller user, depending on how you want to use one you may not need to run it as a bar or pub would.
for a few personal pints of an evening i find a simple 30-45min chill down which is sufficient to pull the waterbath down to 0C without building up an ice wall and that is sufficient to chill an evenings beers.
the waterbath is well insulated and will hld cold over a day so if you use it the next day the chill down period will be shorter too. If you have company then you will need to run it more frequently but i doubt yu will need the cold store of the ice wall unless you have a full sports team round and a few spare kegs.

i keep meaning to mod mine so i can run the python pump independently of the compressor as the flow of cold water from the python maximises the chill.
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate :(
