I have been told to put 80g of sugar in the beer in the fermenting bucket before bottling but how long should i wait after putting the sugar in before i bottle

does it not matter that you syphon beer from the bottom and the sugar is still at the top

As Daab says if you stir gently, being careful not to oxygenate the beer then the sugars will get mixed in.

Ideally, have a separate bottling bucket. Boil a pint, add sugar, let cool. Pour quietly in to bottling bucket. Siphon fermenter to bucket and it will mix itself. Try to keep splashing/agitation to a minimum.

Why is having a seperate bottling bucket ideal? Is it not simply more faff? If you're aiming for equal 'gassiness' why is it not sufficient to add equal amounts of primer to each bottle, surely that will create just as much 'homogeneity' as putting it in another vessel first?

worked for me for the last 50 brews @ 40 bottles or so each time.....

no probs here, and as DaaB says, adding a tsp to each bottle is a PITA and you can add unequal amounts...

Yep this method has worked faultlessly for me on all of my brews

I've been adding the sanitised sugar solution to the FV, one swirl with a paddle, waiting a while (~1hr) and then bottling and it doesn't seem to have gone very wrong yet.
