Still waiting on every other piece of kit but at least everything looks like it will fit.
Still need to raise the upper shelf a few inches but I can use the supports at the back (new plank for that) and front and put spacers on them.

The hole at back has enough width for the wire for the heater but not for anything else (probe and psu for fan) so I will cut the cable and join it with a ip66 joiner to some lamp wire. Then I expect to get all three cables into the hole.

The upper shelf has a sizeable gap between its end and the door so no problem with airflow to the top.

Only concern at moment is I glued the brackets for the 65w tube to the wall - decided to do it a different way (sit on floor) and couldn't actually remove them so will leave for now.
Looks like you're getting there now! I was going to suggest a hole or a fan, but I see theres a place marked out for one so you have that covered. The only other thing that occurs is to keep an eye on the chipboard bowing (especially if it gets wet); the front is supported by proper timber so thats fine but if it starts to sag then the back may need some screwing/glueing underneath to reinforce too.

Getting there with the images as well; I needed to put img tags around your links but otherwise they seem to work fine now (or will in a few post's time or so).

Ha fwiw i used epoxy to stick a pc fan to the fridge wall in my effort ;) after a few years it finally died, rather than risk damaging the thin shell i hollowed it out and repurposed it as a bracket to secure its replacement to..

If you too used a strong glue i would forget heater stands #1 and get replacements or bodge something, cable ties?. the insulating foam under the thin interior shell of a fridge can get quite mankey if exposed to moisture..

A bit of undercoat and exterior gloss paint should seal the shelves against moisture ingress
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate :(

Thanks Kev and Fil - great advice appreciate it !

I will pop some primer on those shelves pronto and will give the IMG a go next time.

There aren't many new fridges you can just go out and buy so hopefully this will prove useful to some.

Kev do you still have a ferm fridge ?

Yep, sealing the chipboard sounds like an excellent idea.

Sadly I don't still have these fridges, I became so pleased with them that at the height I had the luxury of four (plus an extended fridge to cool a large conical fermenter), but later sold the house and garages that housed them all. Currently my brewing setup is much more modest, but if/when the opportunity arises I'll probably be looking for much the same kind of setup.

There is something to be said for individual immersion cooling-coils to maintain fermenter temperature, which is what I have now on a very modest scale, but its rather more complex and awkward in some ways so the jury is still out on that one IMO.

just primed the wood then realised its not food grade paint. Might have to start again in the wood shop ...

Unless you were thinking of licking beer off the wood, I wouldn't personally worry at all about that - there should be no route between wood and mouth. Though maybe give time for fumes to escape as the paint dries before closing the fridge up.

Hygiene is a different matter; its important that the wood is sealed to both protect it and make it easy to clean; these environments are good for mould if not cleaned occasionally.

all it needs now is some beer, that fan looks upto the job of keeping the air moving and at a constant temp too.. top job ;) =D>

Thanks Fil! :-D

Going to be doing wine initially. It will be a while before those fumes go - had to add more paint after cutting out the hole for the fan (sigh).

I will pop up some more pics when I have the first batch on the go.
