Thread sealing

Post by Wet Spaniel » Tue Oct 29, 2019 3:51 pm

Folks, I’m planning on fitting a pressure gauge to a 2 way gas distribution manifold. I know I need some sealant on the thread to keep it gas tight but I’m not familiar with any products that I could use. Would liquid puff be enough or do I need to go with something more specialist? Thanks in advance Jonty

Use Teflon tape designed for gas connections and not Teflon tape designed for water pipes. I am using Oatley brand here in the US. You will need to check for a brand available near you.
Manufactured especially for natural gas, propane, butane, water, oil and chemical lines
Heavier than white tape with density of 1.35-1.50 grams/cubic centimeters, 4 mils thick
Sommeliers recommend that you swirl a glass of wine and inhale its bouquet before throwing it in the face of your enemy.

This is what you need. It is foodsafe and only needs the the threads to be hand tightened.
