Shop closed last year

Post by Rookie » Thu Mar 06, 2025 4:35 pm

I brewed a batch of bitter last year with bramling hops that I really like. Unfortunately the only shop I ever saw that carried them went out of business.
I'm just here for the beer.

It might be a wise idea to move to the UK Rookie, where we have a plentiful supply :-)

We can send Bramling Cross hops to you, we are sending a fair few varieties, especially English, to the States now.

Bramling cross I can find, but I'm talking about bramling.

Bramling Cross are quite an old hop (i.e pre-Wye Target or Wye Northdown varieties). I've never seen the Bramling parent for sale even here in the UK (wasn't it crossed with a US variety?). I think the conclusion is: It wasn't commercially successful. May have been a fine flavoured hop? But I'd be suspicious of what you were actually being sold!

I wouldn't lose sleep over it. There are loads of UK varieties to try instead. :D

But if you find anyone selling them ...

I get it.

You've got nearly ten years on me, and I'm pushed to relocate as far as the bus stop.

After drinking a pint of my beer, I'm pushed to recognise where I've ended up. (Is it my living room? Is it my dining room? Is it my house?).

You might want to keep that quiet, all things considered. Some people will do anything for money. Like heroin dealers. Personally, at this point in history, I wouldn't piss on America if it were on fire. Forget about Trump's tariffs. Boycott with some dignity, ffs.

According to this source, you could try searching for Bramling Hops in British Columbia, Canda:

Cool, but unfortunately because of the large trees on the empty lot next door there isn't anywhere on my property that gets enough sun to grow hops.
I'm just here for the beer.
