Hi All

The good news is I Just got myself a (old but clean) Burco F33L for a tenner.

Bad news is the taps shot, rubber washer perished and cant open the tap very far, it very tight.

How do I get the tap off (without a hacksaw), its the old obsolete screw type tap so think I'll have to replace it anyway.

Whats the best replacement, I'm thinking metal ball valve will be the most durable?

Hi Russ

I have a couple of 7G burco boilers that I have changed the taps on.
Not sure if your's has the same tap but mine is also screw type so maybe.

To remove mine I simply put a ratchet wrench (without the socket) into the tap fitting from the inside of the boiler. The fitting should have a couple of flat edges to sit against.

Hi. I've seen a Burco 33L for sale (sadly more than a tenner though) and was hoping if you can tell me if it has a simmer/thermostat and if so, how easy it is to remove/bypass safely.

I've got one its easy to get rid of the control bits just disconnect everything and control it with a PID/PWM combo and a temperature probe.

Thanks Aamcle. Could you point me in the direction of the parts I'd need? Also, I have two 765/Mk/3 boilers that have given up the ghost. These are both too old to have a simmer/thermostat and I'm pretty sure it's the switch that's switch that's gone. Do you think I could replace the switch with PID/PWM combo and a temperature probe?
