Extract it is then, not bloody Tesco beer

You didnt say if I should rehydrate the yeast first or notFlourPower wrote:Tossco Value Lager
Brew Length: 23L
Mash Time: ooh 5 Mins
Boil Time: eh?
2000g Crystal Malt
500g Carapils
4 cans of lager
Bread Yeast
Oh and some Hops
Make an AG beer using grains. Then keeping the spent grist in the mash tun drink 4 cans of lager and urinate into grist. Try to sprinkle as if sparging (brings a whole new meaning to fly sparging) Whilst warm add some hops to taste and bring to 23L with some dishwater.
Allow to cool before pitching yeast.
At least that's what it tasted like to me.
It hurts having 'buy' beer now doesn't it!?PMH0810 wrote:Similar but different position. Lots conditioning, not that much to drink, had to stop off at Aldi for 6 pints of Wychwood - £8 b1**dy

You anywhere near Essex? I am always happy to assist with any dangerous build up of surplus ale...
Good stuff Chris, for us without time for AG we can still appreciate a cracking home brewed pintChris The Fish wrote:Hello, my name is chris, and i'm a kit-a-holic.
Seriously, i work in a for the boys in blue and sometimes i get a phonecall and not see the wife and kids for days at a time.
I would love to do AG but i cant commit to the time, so im now on kit brew #50+
Great beers.
Chris
Get a shift on with that Black Rock beer will ya?! I'm dying to know what they are like as kitsPMH0810 wrote:Just to update on my shop bought beer: due to a lack of conditioned ale I am drinkig a small selection of Wychwood and Abbot.
Not a patch on my HB - even though they "are just kits". My beers seem to have more depth of flavour and body, maybe because I put the effort in or maybe because I always brew 2 ltrs short (and cos I muck about...)
Knocked the kit up yesterday abo and pitched the yeast this a.m. after the wort had cooled to pitching levels. 8 hours later no life yet but I'll not worry about pitching any more until after work tomorrow if there's still no life.KevP wrote:Get a shift on with that Black Rock beer will ya?!
