Just a quick question, the answer to which is probably really obvious to the more experienced heads on these boards, but how much yeast is the correct amount for a first time brew using 3kg of liquid malt extract and a further 500g of spray malt? I love IPA and my plan is to have a bash at one for my first non-kit brew. I was going to use Safale US-05 yeast and I was wondering if just the one packet will be enough to ferment out what, to me, seems like a lot of extract? Ideally I'd like to get the strength up somewhere near where I always think an IPA should be at around the 6.5% ABV mark but I really, really want to avoid giving it an overly sweet taste which I know I won't enjoy.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
